The Granite is the main means of anti-mecha and anti-missile self defense for Zentraedi warships. It is launched by all Zentraedi vessels larger than the Quel-Quallie scout ship, in all cases through a standard pop-up turret design which releases the missile immediately on an intercept vector.
The missile is built with a thick guidance/warhead section up front, filled out with fuel tanks, and this followed by several large vernier thrusters in what used to be the air intakes of the atmospheric missile (see SAA-2 Goblin) that was the predecessor and basis for the Granite design. Immediately behind this is the section containing the other fuel tanks and rocket engine. Radar aerials are mounted at the rear. While capable of launch in an atmosphere, the Granite is optimized for space, and its performance will be degraded if launched in an atmosphere.
